Customer Review: Eric Hammel, is an astute student of military history. He is the author of some thirty books about World War 2 in the Pacific theater. He also compiled a very useful chronology about the air war over Europe and North Africa titled "Air War Europa 1942-1945." Here he pens a terse and telling... more info
Customer Review: Though there have been dozens of books written on Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Tarawa, the campaigns for Bougainville, New Georgia and Cape Gloucester have been poorly documented. Noted military historian Eric Hammel offers up this striking 'pictorial tribute' to the Marines in action. It's a... more info
Customer Review: Very visual account of that battle in the Pacific. Another first-person account is WALKING THROUGH FIRE: AN IWO JIMA SURVIVOR'S REMEMBRANCE, about a Navy Radioman who was on that island and survived to tell about it. Walking Through Fire, An Iwo Jima Survivor's Remembrance

Customer Review: I have read many books on Tarawa and this is the best. It has many photos I have not seen before and yet had room to describe the battle in detail
Customer Review: Having been in Hue in early January 1968, the subject book clearly displays the devastation that occurred in February and March 68. This book is best read after reading Hamel's companion book, Fire In The Streets. The pictures complete the story.
Customer Review: Little is heard about the fighting on the Golan Heights between Israeli & Syrian forces during the Yom Kippur war, but those familiar with the terrain & environs of the Golan Heights & the Galilee region as a whole, can have little doubt as to the difficulties facing the combatants on... more info
Customer Review: I read Hammel's "Carrier Clash: The Invasion of Guadalcanal & The Battle of the Eastern Solomons, August, 1942". I thought it strange that the Battle of Savo Island wasn't dealt with in any detail in that book, though that action was fairly significant at the time. Likewise, in this... more info
